Michele Cobb

Michele Cobb, 57 years old, is a Summerville resident by way of Bronx, New York. She is a mother to two sons and a Mimi to two beautiful angels. She lost one of her sons to gun violence. Michele is a life coach who has touched many lives through the work she has done in her community. Part of that work includes the three books she has authored, It Could Easily Happen to You, Good Grief Coaching, and The BLUE In YOU.

This successful motivational speaker founded and is executive owner of IAMHISVOICE, LLC and Good Grief Coaching. Michele is inspired by one of her favorite quotes from Maya Angelou, "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style."

Last but not least, Michele is most passionate about God and serving others. She devotes time, attention, and focus to gun violence awareness and becoming an integral part of the surrounding communities. Especially, when it comes to the lives and safety of our troubled youth. Undoubtedly, gun violence is most prevalent nowadays and we as adults (parents) must do our due diligence to protect, and pray fervently and without ceasing for the lives of our children. They are the future and our lives are in their hands!

How many books have you written and which is your favorite?

I've written 3 books, and I enjoyed writing "The BLUE In YOU" the most.

At what point do you think someone should call themselves a writer?

At any point, especially if they're passionate about it.

What advice would you give to a writer working on their first book?

Write without limitations, don't force all of the material into 1 book (consider a series), have fun with it, and remember transparency is key.

Can you tell us a little about your current work?

It's my first children's book, and it was written to help children who feel misunderstood like Blue to navigate their own feelings of anger, awkwardness, and exclusion to discover the power of self-acceptance.

What was your hardest scene to write, and why?

My hardest scene to write was the adventure scene with all of the animals. It was tough thinking of relatable characters and their niche.

How do you develop your plot and characters?

I tried to make the characters as relatable as possible, and with attainable goals.

How would you describe your book’s ideal reader?

My ideal readers are school-age children from 9 - 14 who feel misunderstood, teased, angry, awkward, and excluded.

What do the words “literary success” mean to you? How do you picture it?

Literary success is a known citizen who gives back to the community without question or pause.

What would you like to say to your readers?

To all of my readers, "Thank you" for being a reader, and please know that you're here for a purpose. God made you in His image. So, embrace your uniqueness because it's what makes you truly special, and this will take you places throughout your life.
