Ervin Middleton Jr.

Tell us about yourself.

My name is Ervin Lanier Middleton Jr. I'm a 46 year old black God that has survived and is thriving despite what I've been through. I was born in Charleston SC at Medical University of South Carolina, however I was raised in Brooklyn NY. I am love, I am peace, I am joy, I am light, but I am also dark, I am chaos. I say this because I don't want to paint an image of someone who simply shines and there's no issues.

According to you what is spirituality, and how important is it for a person to live life fully?

To me spirituality is learning your own ancestors' spiritual journey, and studying others as well. To me The creator is in every single culture. Hence why there are so many different cultures, languages, plants, animals, fish. Elohim is energy. We are energy. Ever flowing, multiverse, and never ending. Spirituality is you being you..no strings, no barriers.. because the Almighty already knows all of us, so why be something you're not. Keep it 1000. That to me is how you live your life fully, which is highly important.

What would you be doing right now if it wasn’t for your writing career?

I'm doing multiple things in the midst of my writing career. I'm an artist, so I'm being artistic in every area of my life.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

My interesting writing quirk is I'm not afraid to write about anything and everything the way it is to me.I write life, as it's happening.

Can you tell us about your marketing strategy as a published author?

I really don't have a marketing strategy yet. This is still new for me. I sell to whoever buys. I tell people where to find my book, and I use Facebook.

When did you realize that you had a writer hidden within you?

I always knew I had a writer in me.I wrote poems to girls when I was younger. I'd be in the library reading Emily Dickerson, Poe, Maya Angelou. Plus I write songs.

What is your latest project you are working on?

My latest project is all about me. I am very confident, cocky Conceited and convinced, and it's going to show in this next book which will be released on my birthday.

What would you say to budding new writers or authors?

To all upcoming writers and authors, let me help you relieve the pressure you may face. Don't worry about thinking about what to write, or the flow of it...you'll handle all of that later on. Just write. Don't worry about who's buying and not buying, if they will or won't. Just write. About anything, everything. It's your voice, your stories. If you write it, the world will read it, because the universe put it in you.

How did you come up with the title of your book?

I came up with the title by not being able to control myself after so many tries. Mental illness can be managed, and possibly tamed, but not controlled. Medicine for me just put it to sleep for a bit or slowed it down, but it's still there.

What is the key theme and or message in your book?

There really is no key theme to my book. I, or shall I say we because I am many, all wrote us. How we felt, what we were going through. It's all over the place, like me

What would you like to say to your readers?

To my readers, this book is my voice, my way, which is straight to the point, but in a pattern that rhymes. It's how my mind and life is. It's real, it's me, I am Uncontrollable Control.

Uncontrollable Control can be purchased on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Walmart, and Lulu.

I decided that because i'm bi-polar and have D.I.D, and have spent a great portion of my life trying to control it, that i would do it my way since every other way wasn't working. I decided to use the skills God gave me to control this issue through poetry. Make what seems to be and is a very negative mental issue into a positive book. So this is a book of poems about my life as it was happening. There are many twist and turns, ups and downs. This is so you, the reader, get to go inside of my mind, and experience what i, and many others suffering from the issue go through on a daily basis. My intention is to do two things. One is to draw more attention to the fact that these issues are very real, because when people meet a black man with D.I.D, it's a shock. The second, is to show that even through the most terrible times in a persons life, you can find some way to control the uncontrollable.Facebook: Ervin Middleton Jr
