Tell us about yourself.

Hello, my name is Christina-Mary Seabrook. I am a native of Washington, DC. I am a wife and a mother of three. I am a rape survivor.

What time of the day do you usually get your writing done?

The time of day varies for me. My poetry comes to me at different times. It could come when I’m at work or even when I’m driving.

What do you hope your readers take away from your book?

I want readers to see that the thoughts or situations they have kept deep within are here front and center. That they are not alone and that it is ok to heal and forgive yourself. I’ve seen many people fighting secret battles that affect them in so many ways where they don’t even realize it until it is presented to them. Healing is very important.

What is your favorite author and why?

Maya Angelou and it’s just the way everything flows. Also, learning about her upbringing and the things she endured made me love her poetry so much more.

If you would ask a successful author three questions about their writing , writing process, or  books, what would they be?

The 3 questions I would ask a successful author is what is their writing                 process? Who inspired them to start writing? Which book took the longest to write and why?

Can you see yourself as a children’s author ?

Yes, I could see myself as a children’s author with my two daughters being the main characters.

What about a young adult?

I could see myself as a young adult author. I was once a young adult before, so I think we all have some good stories to tell.

Have you ever thought about being a part of an anthology?

Actually, I am partaking in one soon with my sister group called Brunch Bxtch Society. We are doing a book of erotic short stories and poems.

How long have you been in the field of writing?

I have been writing here and there since I was in middle school. I didn’t really start taking it seriously until 2018.

What’s your favorite snack food while writing?

My favorite snack is some ruffle plain chips with some Helluva French onion dip.

What character in your latest work do you see yourself as?

I would say my book of poems holds many characters that I once was and still am.

What would you like to say to readers?

If you can do something that you always wanted to do, DO IT! Do it Understand that I am just like you, or you have met somebody in your walk of life that has been through some of the things I have been through as well. Free your mind and heal your soul.

It Was Through Her Lips She Spoke...: Volume I can be purchased on Amazon.

Was there ever a time where you wish you would’ve said something but instead you remained silent, afraid of how society saw you? Ever thought that your words weren’t important because no one ever took you seriously? Experienced traumas, injustices, love, pain, and even just had a thought in mind. In 2019, Christina-Mary had given birth to her third child and was diagnosed with PTSD. During this time, she began writing poetry again. Her words tell many stories that others may have encountered. She uses past experiences from her and others, turning them into masterpieces. Her mission is to connect with you but also release all that has crossed her path. She was once silent but through her lips she spoke.
